MIAMI-DADE COUNTY OFFERS COVID-19 SAFETY NET PROGRAMS

MIAMI-DADE COUNTY OFFERS COVID-19 SAFETY NET PROGRAMS

Miami-Dade County is offering COVID-19 safety net programs that provide financial assistance to groups experiencing hardship caused by the pandemic, but time is running out to apply. The programs are funded through the federal CARES Act, whose funds must be used up by Dec. 31.

Funding is available for local residents, businesses and military/veterans, as well as for seniors, job seekers, ranchers and farmers, arts programs, hospitality businesses, and more.

While most programs do not have set deadlines, funding is based on availability. However, with the end of the year fast approaching, the sooner applications are received, the sooner they can be processed, and the sooner funds can be distributed. To avoid processing delays due to missing paperwork, carefully read up on documentation requirements before applying.

Programs supporting businesses and veterans (subject to availability) include:

  • RISE Loans: Helps small businesses by providing loans of up to $30,000 with favorable interest rates and repayment terms.
  • Veteran Business Grant: Offers up to $25,000 in aid.
  • Military and Veterans Basic Needs Assistance Program: Provides up to $2,000 in vouchers for groceries, medical needs and more, while the Military and Veterans
