MIAMI-DADE COUNTY URGES RESIDENTS TO PROTECT THEMSELVES AND OTHERS DURING THE HOLIDAYS

Miami-Dade County is urging residents to follow simple steps in order to protect themselves and others from COVID-19 during this holiday season.

As COVID-19 cases continue to rise throughout the nation, it’s essential that Miami-Dade County residents work together to reduce the transmission of the virus. During this holiday season, it’s imperative that residents keep in mind that when people who live in different homes are together at the same time in the same space, the risk of spreading COVID-19 goes up significantly. Miami-Dade County residents are encouraged to celebrate the holiday season safely this year by wearing face coverings, keeping a safe distance and staying outdoors. The best way to protect yourself, protect the most vulnerable and help reduce the spread of COVID-19 is to follow the simple steps below.

Face Coverings

Studies have shown the potential transmission of COVID-19 decreases greatly when people wear face coverings. You can buy different varieties of face coverings or even make your own. Face coverings help prevent the spread of respiratory droplets from person to person, whether it’s when speaking, breathing, coughing or sneezing. Wearing a face covering in public is currently required in Miami-Dade County. If you wear a disposable face covering, please remember not to litter and dispose of it correctly. If you wear a cloth face covering, wash it after every use.

Social Distancing

In addition to wearing a face covering, keeping six feet apart from non-household members helps curb the spread of COVID-19. Avoid large crowds, especially indoors.

Get Tested

To keep our community, your loved ones and yourself safe, it’s important to get tested if you are experiencing symptoms or you have been in contact with someone who has tested positive.

The County has set up multiple testing locations throughout the community that include drive-up, walk-up and mobile sites. Check out Miami-Dade County’s interactive COVID-19 Testing Site Locator for a location near you. Some jurisdictions offer at-home testing to individuals who are disabled or homebound.

Safer at Home

While we miss spending time with extended family and friends, creating a household bubble also helps curb the spread of COVID-19. Emails, chats, phone and video conferences can help bring us closer while we’re apart. So do your part to save lives.
