At the heart of Urban Golf Weekend is a commitment to expanding access and opportunity through golf. Through its partnership with Community Brainstorming Alliance, a certified 501(c)(3) organization, UGW supports HBCU golf scholarships, youth golf initiatives, and inner-city high school golf programs nationwide. Over the past four years, UGW has contributed more than $50,000 to programs that introduce young people to the sport and create pathways to educational, professional, and leadership opportunities.
Urban Golf Weekend was founded by Clifton Addison on the belief that golf can be more than a sport; it can be a powerful catalyst for connection, opportunity, economic empowerment, and community impact.
After being approached by Fore Life, the organization that first introduced Addison to the game, to help raise awareness and support through a charitable golf tournament, he recognized an opportunity to create something larger than a single event.
Drawing on his own experiences in golf and business, Addison envisioned a culturally relevant experience that would introduce more people of color to the game and create intentional opportunities for networking, mentorship, professional development, and relationship-building. His vision was to build a platform where professionals, entrepreneurs, executives, and emerging leaders could connect through golf and support meaningful community impact.
As the concept continued to evolve, Addison later collaborated with Woody Remy to bring the vision to life, transforming it into a signature destination experience that integrates golf, business, culture, philanthropy, and community engagement.
What began as a charitable initiative has evolved into a nationally recognized golf and lifestyle experience, attracting attendees from across the country for a unique blend of golf, business, philanthropy, wellness, and culture. Today, Urban Golf Weekend is more than an event; it is a movement that uses golf to foster community, create opportunity, build lasting relationships, and help shape a more inclusive future for the sport.
Now in its fourth year, Urban Golf Weekend continues to redefine the golf experience by creating a destination where culture, commerce, collaboration, and community converge.
The 2026 Urban Golf Weekend will offer five days of signature programming, including:
• UGW Expo – A two-day showcase featuring entrepreneurship, innovation, lifestyle brands, networking, fireside chats, and thought-provoking discussions with business leaders, creators, and industry influencers.
• Annual Charity Golf Tournament – Held at Miami Beach Golf Club, the event supports HBCU golf scholarships and youth golf initiatives.
• 19th Hole After PAR-Tee – A signature networking and social experience that brings attendees together following tournament play.
• Power Brunch – An engaging gathering featuring influential voices across business, entrepreneurship, leadership, and innovation.
• UGW Yacht Day – An exclusive closing experience that captures the energy, culture, and lifestyle synonymous with Miami.
“Urban Golf Weekend was built on the idea that access matters,” said Clifton Addison, Founder of Urban Golf Weekend. “Whether it’s access to mentorship, business relationships, new opportunities, or the game of golf itself, we wanted to create an environment where people feel welcome, empowered, and connected. That’s what continues to drive our mission and our investment in future generations.”
“For many attendees, Urban Golf Weekend has become an annual reunion for leaders, innovators, entrepreneurs, and changemakers from across the country,” said Woody Remy, Founder & President of Brainstorm Miami. “The event offers a rare opportunity to connect authentically and enjoy the best of golf, culture, and community. Seeing those relationships endure long after the weekend ends makes the experience especially meaningful.”
As participation in golf continues to grow nationwide, Urban Golf Weekend sits at the intersection of sports, culture, entrepreneurship, tourism, and community impact, creating opportunities for connection and expanding representation across the game.
