First Fridays in the Heights Summer Nights, Culture and Community to Richmond Heights
Summer in the Heights is made for good food, warm nights, music, laughter and community — and this season, Richmond Heights is giving residents and visitors a reason to gather, celebrate and rediscover one of Miami-Dade County’s most historic Black communities.
First Fridays in the Heights will take place Friday, July 3 from 7 to 10 p.m. at Larcenia Bullard Plaza, 14508 Lincoln Blvd., Miami, FL 33176. The monthly community experience invites families, neighbors, entrepreneurs and culture lovers to come together for an evening of food, fellowship, history and hometown pride.
Hosted in the heart of Richmond Heights at The Larcenia Bullard Plaza, the event is more than a Friday night outing. It is a celebration of community. Richmond Heights has long held a special place in Miami-Dade’s history as a community built for Black World War II veterans and their families. Today, that legacy continues through this event that brings people back to the neighborhood’s historic corridors and public spaces.
First Fridays in the Heights captures the spirit of a summer block party with a cultural twist. Guests can expect food trucks, local vendors, community connections, music and a relaxed outdoor atmosphere designed for all ages. From families stopping by with children to longtime residents sharing memories and new visitors discovering Richmond Heights for the first time, the event is built around one simple question: What do you love about Richmond Heights?
The answer can be found in the people, the stories, the food, the music and the pride that continue to define the Heights. Events like First Fridays help strengthen neighborhood identity while supporting local businesses and creating space for residents to connect across generations.
Presented in partnership with Commissioner Kionne McGhee, The Historic Society and The Culture News, First Fridays in the Heights is part of a growing movement to celebrate community, preserve history and activate public spaces in meaningful ways.
As summer begins, Richmond Heights is reminding Miami-Dade that some of the best things to do are rooted right in the neighborhood — where history lives, culture shines and community always comes first.
