Vandalism at Historic Coconut Grove Playhouse Construction Site
The Coconut Grove Playhouse construction site has been the target of two acts of vandalism in the last 48 hours. Both incidents involved damage to the drainage sock on Charles Street.
The Coconut Grove Playhouse has long been a symbol of artistic and cultural vibrancy in Miami, and its current restoration project aims to honor its legacy while transforming it into a modern beacon for the arts. These repeated acts of vandalism put the progress of this vital project at significant risk and underline the need for collective action to safeguard the site.
The support of the community is critical in ensuring the preservation and future of the Coconut Grove Playhouse. “This criminal activity must stop. We urgently need the community’s help to protect this cultural treasure. If you witness any suspicious activity around the playhouse, please report it immediately to the City of Miami Police Department,” said Miami-Dade Commissioner Raquel Regalado.
Residents are urged to stay vigilant and report any suspicious activity around the property immediately to the City of Miami Police Department by calling (305) 579-6111.
