Community Comes Together for North vs. South Juneteenth Kickball Tournament in Miami Gardens

The City of Miami Gardens kicked off Juneteenth weekend with energy, unity, and celebration at the North vs. South Juneteenth Kickball Tournament, held on Friday, June 7, 2025, at Ives Estate Park. The event—part of The Juneteenth Experience in Miami Gardens—was presented by Commissioner Oliver G. Gilbert, III, Councilwoman Katrina Wilson, and Vice Chairman Kionne L. McGhee.

From the opening whistle, the tournament brought out the competitive spirit of local teams representing North and South Dade, all in the name of friendly rivalry and community pride. But the day was about much more than just kickball—it was a vibrant celebration of culture, freedom, and fellowship.

“The energy was incredible, and it’s always a joy to see our community come together like this,” said Commissioner Gilbert. “Juneteenth is a time to celebrate how far we’ve come, and this tournament reflects the strength and unity of Miami Gardens.”

Congratulations to “Pitch Please” from the South for winning the first North vs. South Juneteenth Kickball Tournament.

The event was a success, drawing residents from across the region to honor the meaning of Juneteenth through connection, culture, and collective joy.
