Miami native and Grammy Award winner Cécile McLorin Salvant will be bringing her Grammy-nominated jazz album Ghost Song to the Arsht Center on February 3, 2023. The New York Times recently named Ghost Song the Best Jazz Album of 2022, calling it “stylistically adventurous,” and it is currently nominated for a Grammy Award for Best Jazz Vocal Album. McLorin Salvant is one of jazz music’s most decorated vocalists; in addition to being a three-time Grammy Award winner, she won the Thelonious Monk International Jazz Competition in 2010 and is a recipient of the MacArthur Genius Grant.

The Arsht Center’s 2023 HERITAGE FEST features an afro-theory dance workshop led by Show Stopper Dance Studio’s Kerine Jean-Pierre (@lerougepierre), a Free Gospel Sundays pop-up performance by Rev. Melvin Dawson & the Genesis Fellowship Delegation (@theofficialgfd) and South Florida pop/R&B singer and X-Factor alum Victoria Blue (@victoria_blue). DJ Nickymix (@nickymix) will be this year’s MC and resident DJ for the day. HERITAGE FEST will take place outdoors with some indoor activities.

Free Gospel Sundays’ resident choir returns to the stage to close out Black History Month! Miami Mass Choir’s debut album, 1997’s It’s Praying Time, reached No. 25 on Billboard’s gospel albums chart and earned the choir the Stellar Award for Choir of the Year. Since then, the group has recorded several more albums, including Miami Mass Choir LIVE at the Adrienne Arsht Center; been nominated for a Grammy Award; performed on MTV with Kanye West; and served as resident choir of the Arsht Center’s Free Gospel Sundays series.

WPLG Local 10 Anchor Calvin Hughes returns as the host for Free Gospel Sunday performances.
