TWENTY-SIX BUSINESSES SET TO GRADUATE FROM COMMISSIONER MCGHEE’S SMALL BUSINESS BOOTCAMP

MIAMI-DADE – Commissioner Kionne L. McGhee is hosting a graduation ceremony for 26 small businesses who fully participated in his Small Business Bootcamp on Friday, May 6, at 6 p.m. at Larcenia J. Bullard Plaza, 14508 Lincoln Blvd., Miami, FL 33176.

The Small Business Bootcamp was jointly administered by Tools for Change and Neighbors and Neighbors Association, Inc. (NANA). The classes provided an opportunity for small business owners to have their questions answered, their fees covered, and receive expert advice from an attorney. Some of the covered fees included the cost of their business license, their local business tax receipt, and fees for the Florida Division of Corporations, known as Sunbiz.

“Small businesses are critical to the success of our economy. We are grateful that we can provide small business owners in District 9 with this opportunity. It’s the only program of its kind that provides grants to small businesses to help them get organized for bigger economic opportunities and success,” said Commissioner McGhee.

At the Board of County Commissioners meeting on Tuesday, May 3, Tools for Change and NANA were honored during a special presentation for their assistance with the bootcamp. For over 25 years, these organizations have provided technical assistance to small businesses throughout Miami-Dade County.

The special presentation and graduation coincide with National Small Business Week, recognized annually by the U.S. Small Business Administration, which celebrates small business owners and their entrepreneurial spirit and contributions to the economy.

All participants will receive a certificate of completion at the graduation ceremony from Tools for Change and NANA’s Richmond Heights Business Development Hub.

The Office of Commissioner McGhee will offer additional Small Business Bootcamps in the coming months. Residents and businesses are encouraged to follow Commissioner McGhee on social media and visit his website to receive more information.
