ABOUT THE BOOK
The “Women Who Raised Me” is a personal memoir narrated by the author and includes some of the most influential women in the author’s life who have transitioned from this earthly life to their heavenly eternal homes. Inspired by the unfortunate death of her mother, Mrs. Vennda Rei Harris Gibson, who was her very best friend, Davrye began writing this journal as a therapeutic reflection to help ease her emotional pain caused by this devastating loss and unspeakable grief and reach a pinnacle that brought inspiration, reclaimed motivation, and bridge a connection to her ancestral village that surpasses all understanding. “Each of the women portrayed in this book have molded
me into the woman I am today, and because of their powerful love which resonates even after their death, I was able to discover a peace and comfort that helped me move past the sadness and reclaim being the best woman, wife, mother and sister that I could ever be,” says Smith. “This memoir is a renewed discovery of joy, compassion, hope and infinite love and I hope it encourages others who have experienced such loss to begin to seek out support from journaling or other forms of inspirational growth that helps them find comfort to better their well-being.”
