MICHAEL B. JORDAN SET TO STAR IN DENZEL WASHINGTON DIRECTED FILM

It was announced that Michael B. Jordan will play the lead in the new Denzel Washington directed film. The film is based on the memoir “A Journal for Jordan: A Story of Love and Honor” by Pulitzer Prize-winning journalist Dana Canedy.

“Based on a true story, its follow Sgt. Charles Monroe King (Jordan), a soldier deployed to Iraq who begins to keep a journal of love and advice for his infant son. But the horrors of war take their toll. Back at home, senior New York Times editor Dana Canedy (Adams) revisits the story of her unlikely, life-altering relationship with King and his enduring devotion to her and their child,” stated Deadline’s official synopsis of the film.

Unfortunately, in 2006 King was tragically killed in Iraq when his son was just seven months old. During his time overseas he wrote letters to his newborn son, also named Jordan. His wife Canedy, played in the movie by Chanté Adams, kept all the poignant letters in a book for their son.

This will be Michael B. Jordan’s second soldier role this year! In April, Jordan starred in the action film Without Remorse starring ATL star Lauren London.

Jordan took to Instagram to share his excitement surrounding the film. He wrote in the caption of his post, “A once-in-a-lifetime love. It’s not often you get a chance to be directed by one of your idols, in Denzel Washington. @chantee__ I think we got one! @ajournalforjordan hittin theaters this Christmas.”

It’s no secret that longtime actor, Denzel Washington is considered one of the best of all-time when it comes to talent. Washington directed and starred in the 2016 film Fences, earning him an Oscar nomination for best picture and actor.
