BIGGIE SMALLS AND JAM MASTER JAY’S DAUGHTERS SET TO OPEN JUICY PIZZA IN LA
On Saturday, June 12, Tyra Myricks, daughter of legendary rapper Jam Master Jay and T’yanna Wallace, daughter of rapper Biggie Smalls teams up for the opening of pizza shop Juicy Pizza in LA.
Tyra Myricks turned what was all a dream into a reality after relocated to Los Angeles from NYC. She realized the city was lacking a hot quality pizza spot and took matters into her own hands. “I realized that LA doesn’t have good NY style pizza,” she wrote in February via Instagram. So instead of going on an endless hunt for some, I decided to make some!” She then recruited Wallace to join her.
Myricks reached out to Wallace because she can relate to what it’s like to have people profit from her father’s name and career. “I was like I don’t want you to invest anything,” she told Wallace. “Let’s just make money together. Let’s make moves.”
Even though Myriks doesn’t remember her dad, she’s very much like him, a natural-born hustler. As of last year, Myricks was the head designer of Drake’s OVO clothing line. She also has her own clothing boutique in Brooklyn. “It’s not an easy game,” she said of being an entrepreneur. “Everybody on the internet shows the glorious side, but nobody shows the treacherous side where it’s hard to get up in the morning.”
Juicy Pizza, named after Biggie’s breakout hit single “Juicy,” is located at 615 N. La Brea Avenue in the Fairfax/Hollywood area. It will operate solely during dinner hours. The menu is built around cheese and pepperoni pizza. Still, it includes additional Big Apple offerings such as oxtail, beef and broccoli, jerk chicken, and chopped cheese egg rolls.
