BLM ACTIVIST SASHA JOHNSON SHOT IN CRITICAL CONDITION AFTER BEING SHOT IN HEAD

British Black Lives Matter activist Sasha Johnson is in critical condition after being shot in London.

“It is with great sadness that we inform you that our own Sasha Johnson has been brutally attacked and sustained a gunshot wound to her head,” the Taking the Initiative Party said in a Sunday statement. “She is currently in intensive care and in a critical condition.”

Johnson was attacked and shot in the head while at a birthday party in Southwark. It was reported that four men wearing dark clothing made their way into the event, and a scuffle broke out. Shots were then fired, and the suspects fled. Johnson was taken to a south London hospital where she is still fighting for her life in the intensive care unit.

Her political party said the attack happened “following numerous death threats as a result of her activism.”

The police are still in the early stages of investigation. In a statement, they noted that there was no evidence to suggest a targeted attack or that the woman “had received any credible threats against her prior to this incident.”

Many people worldwide, including British lawmakers, paid tribute to the dedicated activist in the wake of the shooting. The incident went viral on Twitter as many loved ones gathered at a candlelight vigil in honor of Johnson.

“Whoever carried out this dreadful shooting of Sasha Johnson needs to be caught quickly. Give any info you have to @MPSSouthwark. Reported death threats will need to be investigated,” wrote Harriet Harman, a Labour Member of Parliament for Camberwell.

Diane Abbott, Labour MP for Hackney North and Stoke Newington tweeted: “Nobody should have to potentially pay with their life because they stood up for racial justice.”

So far, Investigators have interviewed those who attended the party. They also collected recorded footage of the event and requested the public’s help to learn more details about the case. Thus, five suspects have been arrested in connection to the incident.

“Our investigation continues to make progress, but we need the assistance of the community to find out who was responsible for this horrific attack that has left Sasha fighting for her life,” Detective Chief Inspector Richard Leonard said in a statement.
