Your Vote, Your Voice: Why Showing Up on Election Day Matters
Election Day is Tuesday, November 3. Miami-Dade voters have from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. to make their voices heard in the 2026 General Election.
Voting is more than a right. It is a civic responsibility and one of the most important ways Americans can participate in shaping the future of their communities.
On Tuesday, November 3, 2026, voters across Miami-Dade County and the nation will head to the polls for the General Election, making decisions that will influence leadership, public policy, and the direction of their communities for years to come.
From education and housing to public safety, healthcare, transportation, and economic opportunity, decisions made by elected officials have a direct impact on everyday life.
Why Your Vote Matters
Every election presents an opportunity for residents to have a say in the decisions that affect their families, neighborhoods, and future generations.
While presidential elections often receive the most attention, midterm elections are equally important to the democratic process. Voters will help determine representation in Congress, state leadership, and other offices that influence public policy and community priorities.
Voting is also a way to honor the generations of Americans who fought to expand access to the ballot box. The struggle for voting rights remains an important chapter in American history, particularly within Black communities, where generations of advocates worked to overcome discriminatory barriers to political participation.
Their legacy is a reminder that the right to vote should never be taken for granted.
Regardless of political affiliation, participating in elections helps ensure that a broader range of community voices is represented in the democratic process.
Miami-Dade Election Day: What You Need to Know
Election Day: Tuesday, November 3, 2026
Polls Open: 7:00 a.m.
Polls Close: 7:00 p.m.
Voters who are already in line by 7 p.m. will still be permitted to cast their ballots.
Unlike early voting, Election Day voters must report to their assigned precinct. Residents cannot simply visit any polling location in the county.
Miami-Dade election officials have also announced temporary changes to several polling locations for this election. Voters are strongly encouraged to verify their assigned location before leaving home.
What to Bring to the Polls
Florida voters must present a current, valid identification that includes a photograph and signature.
Acceptable identification includes a Florida driver’s license, Florida identification card, U.S. passport, military identification, student identification, and several other approved forms.
If an identification card contains a photograph but no signature, voters may present a second approved identification containing their signature.
Voters without the required identification may still be eligible to cast a provisional ballot.
Check Your Polling Location Before You Go
Miami-Dade residents can confirm their voter registration status, locate their assigned precinct, and review sample ballot information through the Miami-Dade County Supervisor of Elections website.

Voters who requested a vote-by-mail ballot but have not submitted it may still be able to vote in person, provided they have not already voted. They should bring their unused mail ballot to their assigned polling location if available.
Completed vote-by-mail ballots must be received by the elections office no later than 7 p.m. on Election Day. A postmark alone does not satisfy the deadline.
Democracy Depends on Participation
An informed and engaged community is essential to a functioning democracy.
Voting provides an opportunity to participate in decisions about who represents the public and how government responds to the needs of its residents.
For first-time voters, longtime voters, and those returning to the polls after sitting out previous elections, Election Day offers another opportunity to take part in the democratic process.
Before heading to the polls, review your ballot, research the candidates and issues, confirm your voting location, and make a plan that fits your schedule.
Your voice matters. Your vote matters. And participation matters.
