UnidosUS Action PAC Endorses Angie Nixon, Darren Soto and Eliott Rodriguez in Florida Congressional Races
UnidosUS Action PAC today announced its endorsement of Angie Nixon for U.S. Senate, Congressman Darren Soto for reelection in Florida’s 9th Congressional District and Eliott Rodriguez for Congress in Florida’s 27th Congressional District, backing a slate of candidates committed to fighting for working families and ensuring Florida communities have a stronger voice in Washington.
The endorsements come as Florida families continue to face an affordability crisis driven by the rising cost of housing, groceries, health care and other basic necessities. At the same time, federal policies are threatening health care, economic security and the stability of immigrant families across the state.
“Florida families do not have the luxury of treating this election like an ideological debate. People are trying to figure out how to pay the rent, afford groceries, keep their health care and build a future for their children—all while families in our communities are living with the fear that a parent could leave for work or an immigration appointment and not come home,” said Rafael Collazo, Executive Director of UnidosUS Action PAC
“We cannot separate the fight for affordability from the fight for the stability and dignity of our families. Removing parents from households, workers from jobs and longtime residents from their communities does not make our country stronger or more prosperous. It leaves children traumatized, families without income, businesses without workers and communities less secure.”
South Florida, which has become ground zero for the administration’s aggressive immigration enforcement agenda, is of critical concern. Families are being separated by detention and deportation, while the fear created by enforcement actions reaches far beyond those directly targeted. When parents are taken from their children and workers from their jobs, the consequences ripple through households, schools, workplaces and local economies. The immediate harm is profound, but so is the long-term cost of destabilizing families and communities whose work, businesses and contributions are integral to a thriving economy.

A state representative, longtime organizer and Jacksonville native, Angie Nixon has built her public service around the economic challenges facing working Floridians. Her campaign for U.S. Senate has centered on the affordability crisis, including the rising costs of housing, health care, child care and everyday necessities.
Nixon has also demonstrated a willingness to confront policies that threaten the rights and well-being of Florida families. UnidosUS Action PAC believes that Florida needs a senator who understands that economic security, health care, workers’ rights and the dignity and stability of our families are interconnected, and who is prepared to fight for them in Washington.
Darren Soto — U.S. House, Florida’s 9th Congressional District
Congressman Darren Soto has been a consistent advocate for Central Florida families and a strong voice for the Latino community in Congress. The first person of Puerto Rican descent elected to Congress from Florida, Soto has focused his reelection campaign on lowering costs, protecting access to health care, Social Security and Medicare, and holding Washington accountable.
At a moment when federal decisions are having immediate consequences for household budgets, access to essential services and the security of immigrant families, UnidosUS Action PAC believes Central Florida needs experienced representation that understands its communities and is prepared to defend them and deliver for them.
Eliott Rodriguez — U.S. House, Florida’s 27th Congressional District
For decades, Eliott Rodriguez has been a trusted presence in South Florida and has built his campaign for Congress around the economic realities facing the community he calls home. Rodriguez has made affordability a central focus of his campaign, including the housing costs that are increasingly pushing working and middle-class families out of South Florida.
He has also spoken forcefully against immigration policies that undermine the dignity and stability of immigrant families—an issue with particular urgency in Miami-Dade as South Florida experiences the consequences of intensified immigration enforcement firsthand. Families should not have to live in fear that going to work, attending an appointment or carrying out the routines of everyday life could result in permanent separation.
“In a district where Latino voters can play a decisive role in determining who represents them in Washington, UnidosUS Action PAC believes Rodriguez offers voters a representative who understands both what is happening in the community and what is at stake, and who will put the needs of South Florida families ahead of partisan politics,” added Collazo.
