Young artists invited to celebrate arts, accessibility, and friendship in the 2027 All Kids Included Visual Art Showcase
The Miami-Dade County Department of Cultural Affairs is now accepting submissions for the 2027 All Kids Included (AKI) District-wide Student Visual Art Showcase. Students in grades Pre-K through 12 across Miami-Dade County are invited to submit original artwork that reflects the spirit of friendship and inclusion, exploring this year’s theme, Celebrating the Power of Friendship Through the Arts. Inspired by The Invisible Boy, written by Trudy Ludwig and illustrated by Patrice Barton, the story celebrates kindness, inclusion, and encourages students to recognize the friendships that help every child feel seen and valued.
“Each year, the All Kids Included Student Visual Art Showcase reminds us of the extraordinary creativity found in our community,” said Miami-Dade County Mayor Daniella Levine Cava. “I invite students to reflect on the friendships and connections that uplift and inspire them. The arts are a powerful tool that continues to open doors for young people of all abilities, fostering a sense of belonging while nurturing the artistic talent that strengthens our entire community.”
Presented annually in conjunction with the All Kids Included Family Arts Festival, the showcase award recipients will be recognized at the festival on Saturday, May 1, 2027, at the Dennis C. Moss Cultural Arts Center in Cutler Bay. Submission deadline is February 1, 2027.
Students are encouraged to create original artwork inspired by the showcase’s central theme and to explore The Invisible Boy for inspiration. Artwork may be submitted through Miami-Dade County Public Schools, delivered directly or mailed to the Miami-Dade County Department of Cultural Affairs, or dropped off at any Miami-Dade Public Library System branch. Entries are welcome from students attending public, charter, and private schools, as well as homeschooled students, Countywide. Contest guidelines and required forms are available on the Miami-Dade County Department of Cultural Affairs’ website.
