Summer in the City: Free & Low-Cost Things To Do in Miami-Dade

Summer in South Dade has a rhythm to it. The kids are home, the days feel longer, and if you are not paying attention, the cost of “just getting out of the house” adds up quickly. Between camps, outings, and trying to keep everyone engaged, it is easy to overspend without even realizing it. But there are ways to move through the summer that keep families active and outside without turning every plan into a bill.

Start with what is already happening in the community. Across the county, there is a steady flow of outdoor concerts, park events, and family-centered programming throughout the summer. These are the kinds of events where you bring a chair, something cold to drink, and settle in while the kids run around.  A full summer doesn’t always come from spending more. Sometimes it comes from making use of what’s already around us.
