Paul Wilson, a Miami Gardens resident, and the son of U.S. Congresswoman Frederica Wilson, officially launched his campaign for the Miami Gardens City Commission Seat 2 on Tuesday night to a packed crowd at Oasis in Miami Gardens.

The campaign kickoff, drew supporters, community leaders and family members as Wilson shared his vision for the city and vowed to focus on unity, opportunity, and accountability in local government.

“This moment is all about God’s timing,” Wilson told the audience. “I am deeply grateful to everyone who came out tonight and for allowing me to be part of this journey. This campaign is about working together to build a stronger, more connected community.”

Wilson said his campaign will emphasize listening to residents, improving neighborhood safety, and expanding youth and business initiatives across Miami Gardens.

Miami Gardens Seat 2 is currently held by Councilman Reggie Leon, who has termed out of office and was also in attendance to support candidate Wilson. First elected in 2018, Leon is a lifelong resident of Miami Gardens whose leadership has been rooted in service, community advocacy, and results-driven action.
The Seat 2 race will be decided in the city’s upcoming municipal election later this year.
