Richmond Heights Marks 76 Years With Anniversary Brunch Celebrating Local Business Leaders

MIAMI, FL — January 13, 2026 — The Historic Society will host the 76th Annual Richmond Heights Anniversary Brunch on Sunday, February 1, 2026, at the Florida Room at Zoo Miami (12400 SW 152nd Street, Miami, FL 33177). The annual gathering brings together residents, business owners, and community partners to honor the people and organizations who continue to invest in Richmond Heights and help shape its future.

Founded in 1949 as one of the nation’s first planned communities for African-American World War II veterans, Richmond Heights has long represented perseverance, pride, and self-determination. Seventy-six years later, that legacy remains strong — supported by businesses and organizations that are committed to economic growth, community advocacy, and preserving the neighborhood’s historic identity.

Honoring Businesses Making a Lasting Impact

This year’s Anniversary Brunch will recognize five organizations whose leadership and service have made a meaningful difference in Richmond Heights:

  • J.L. Brown Development

  • Manifezt Foundation

  • Mike & Jackie’s BBQ & Catering Services

  • Richmond Heights Community Development Corporation

  • SBC Community Development Corporation

Each honoree reflects the spirit of entrepreneurship and community responsibility that has sustained Richmond Heights for generations.

More Than a Celebration

The Anniversary Brunch is not only a time to reflect on the past, but also an opportunity to invest in the future. Proceeds from the event will benefit the Patricia Harper Garrett Educational Fund, which provides scholarship support to students pursuing higher education. In 2025, the Fund awarded a $5,000 scholarship to a student attending Bethune-Cookman College, continuing its commitment to educational access and opportunity.
