FORMULA 1® CRYPTO.COM MIAMI GRAND PRIX NAMES KATHARINA NOWAK PRESIDENT

Tom Garfinkel, Managing Partner of the FORMULA 1® CRYPTO.COM MIAMI GRAND PRIX and South Florida Motorsports, announced today that Katharina Nowak has been named President of the FORMULA 1® CRYPTO.COM MIAMI GRAND PRIX. Nowak previously served as the Vice President of Business Operations for the Grand Prix and has played an integral role in building the race into the world-class event it has become today. At 28 years old, Nowak becomes the youngest President of a Formula 1® race and one of only two women in the role across the world.

Nowak will serve as the second President of the FORMULA 1® CRYPTO.COM MIAMI GRAND PRIX, following Tyler Epp, who was named President in 2022 and led the organization’s growth and success in its first four years. Under Epp’s leadership, the event received numerous recognitions across the industry, including as the 2024 Formula 1® Promoter of the Year, and delivered four consecutive sellout races with annual growth across attendance, revenue and sponsorship. Epp is departing the organization, having accepted an important role in the motorsports industry.

“I am excited to announce Katharina as our President. She is one of the most talented young executives I’ve been around and I know she will continue to build on what has been established here – that we are committed to innovating fan experience and delivering a world-class event for drivers, teams and fans,” said Garfinkel. “I also want to thank Tyler for his leadership. The Grand Prix simply wouldn’t be what it has grown into today without him.”

Nowak joined the Miami Dolphins and Hard Rock Stadium enterprise in 2019 and has held numerous roles for the organization across events, corporate partnerships and business operations. In 2023, she was promoted to oversee business operations for the FORMULA 1® CRYPTO.COM MIAMI GRAND PRIX, and in 2024, she was named Vice President. In this role, she has led the collaboration across all business and operational departments involved in building and executing the Grand Prix, spearheaded the organization’s relationship with Formula 1®, served as a key negotiator in business and partnership opportunities and directed all strategic planning for the race. A native of Vienna, Austria, Nowak graduated with an advertising/public relations degree from Loyola University Chicago.

“I am both humbled and excited to take on this new role as President,” said Nowak. “I want to thank Steve Ross, Tom and Tyler for their vision, investment and leadership. In this new chapter, our goals remain unchanged – we will continue to deliver an exceptional event for our stakeholders, with elite on-track action and fan-first experience at the center of all we do. We have an incredible team committed to excellence, and I am eager to continue the work that has already begun.”

Garfinkel also announced today the promotion of John Murphy to Managing Director of South Florida Motorsports. Murphy will take on a larger role leading the operations of all motorsport events held at the Miami International Autodrome, including the Precision Drive Club. Murphy was previously the Vice President of Sporting & Racing Operations and has worked on the FORMULA 1® CRYPTO.COM MIAMI GRAND PRIX since the inaugural race in 2022. A Melbourne, Australia native, Murphy spent more than seven years at Motorsport Australia, the FIA member club and governing body for motorsport in Australia, where he oversaw business development and commercial operations. Murphy began his career with the North Melbourne Football Club, where he ascended to general manager of marketing and fan development.
