South Miami Chapter of Jack and Jill of America, Inc. hosts the 3rd Bi-Annual Beautillion Mentoring Program

The South Miami Chapter of Jack and Jill of America, Inc. is proud to announce that the application period is open for the 3rd Biennial Beautillion Mentoring Program. Every other year, Black families from across South Florida present their young men to society at the South Miami Chapter Jack and Jill Biennial Beautillion Ball. The planning begins a year in advance, with workshops and rehearsals over the course of months in subjects including public speaking, leadership, community service, financial literacy,
dress, and building a personal brand. The black-tie affair serves as a rite of passage for the young men, as well as helps to raise funds for local community organizations, counters negative stereotypes of African American men, and prepares participants for the future.

Beautillion Balls are celebrated across the country by various chapters of Jack and Jill of America, an organization of Black mothers focused on promoting children’s education, culture and health. The mothers in Jack and Jill of America all knew young Black men who were honor students, dedicated volunteers and celebrated athletes but say those weren’t the images being portrayed in the media.

They decided to combat negative stereotypes by organizing Beautillions — a spin on the cotillion, in which young women are presented to society. The Beautillion also serves as a scholarship fundraiser and to support organizations which share Jack & Jill of America, Inc.’s mission to improve the lives of children across their communities. The South Miami Chapter of Jack and Jill of America, Inc. is dedicated to helping the children in our community and proud to have awarded nearly $10,000 to local
community organizations during the 2022-2024 calendar year in conjunction with the Jack and Jill Foundation, the philanthropic arm of Jack & Jill of America, Inc.

The Jack and Jill Foundation has been instrumental in supporting community-based organizations across America since its inception in 1968. Based in Washington D.C., the mission of the Foundation is to address issues affecting African-American children and families, by investing in programs and services that create a strong foundation for children to thrive long-term.
