North Miami CRA Approves $300,000 Grant to Support Renovation of Historic Jimmy’s Diner

The North Miami Community Redevelopment Agency (NMCRA) has officially approved a $300,000 Commercial Rehabilitation Grant to support the renovation of Jimmy’s Diner, a beloved local institution located at 510 NE 125th Street. The grant was unanimously approved during the CRA Board Meeting held on April 22, 2025.

Originally established in 1966 as the Ranch House Restaurant, the eatery has served generations of North Miami residents and visitors. Today, under the ownership of Lyonel and Marie Blaise, Jimmy’s Diner continues its tradition of offering homestyle American breakfasts and lunches while employing a dedicated team—including six North Miami residents.

To maintain its role as a community cornerstone and help revitalize the downtown area, the owners proposed a $502,017 renovation project. Planned upgrades include new flooring, ceiling improvements, an open seating layout, enhanced lighting, landscaping, exterior painting, and restriping of the parking lot.

“Jimmy’s Diner represents more than just a restaurant—it’s a living part of our city’s history and identity,” said Anna-Bo Emmanuel, Esq., Executive Director of the North Miami CRA. “This project reflects our ongoing commitment to preserving our cultural landmarks while supporting economic growth and enhancing the vibrancy of our downtown area.”

This investment aligns with NMCRA’s mission to foster economic development, revitalize commercial corridors, and support local businesses that serve as pillars of the community.
