Commissioner Kionne L. McGhee Stood On Business For South Dade: The McGhee Action Plan 2025

I am proud to announce that the McGhee Action Plan 2025, a comprehensive strategy that reflects our unwavering commitment to the residents of South Dade, was incorporated into our County’s Budget. IT PASSED!  Together, with the dedicated voices of our community-organized organizations, we have driven a budget that embodies our shared values and aspirations.

In our district, the backbone of our strength lies in our community. Organizations that tirelessly advocate for our residents have been instrumental in shaping this plan. They empower our voices and amplify our concerns, ensuring that every corner of our community is heard. Today, I reaffirm my commitment to working alongside these organizations; they are not just partners—they are essential to our collective success.

We have tackled pressing issues—Biscayne Bay, endangered environmental lands, and the urgent need to protect our tree canopy. These are not merely environmental concerns; they are vital for the resilience and health of our community. The McGhee Action Plan prioritizes these issues, recognizing that a thriving ecosystem is foundational to our residents’ wellbeing.

Moreover, we have made significant investments in our infrastructure. Roads that serve as lifelines for our neighborhoods, the safety of our police and fire departments, and the wellbeing of our dedicated county workers are at the forefront of this plan. These investments will enhance our quality of life and ensure that our public safety personnel are equipped to serve our community effectively.

Our commitment to our golden achievers—our senior citizens—is unwavering. We are investing in programs that promote their wellbeing, ensuring they remain active, engaged, and supported within our community. This includes expanding services that cater to their unique needs.

Additionally, I am particularly proud of our summer youth programs, which offer our young people valuable opportunities for growth, learning, and employment. By investing in our youth, we are investing in the future of South Dade.

As a former assistant prosecutor and adjunct professor, I understand the importance of a budget that fosters opportunity and justice for all. The McGhee Action Plan 2025 is not just about numbers; it’s about the people we serve—the families who call South Dade home, the children who will inherit our decisions, and the elders who have paved the way for us.
