JACKSON STATE CRUSHED FAMU IN ORANGE BLOSSOM CLASSIC

For the second year in a row, the Florida A&M University Rattlers fell short at the Orange Blossom Classic. Jackson State dominated at the Hard Rock Stadium, winning 59-3.

The Rattlers struggled offensively only scoring three points and putting up 155 yards of total offense. The offense also had two turnovers that led to two defensive touchdowns for Jackson State. FAMU’s defense wasn’t much better, giving up five touchdowns and 471 yards.

Florida A&M’s loss is its worst defeat to an HBCU in school history. Head Coach Willie Simmons described the loss as “embarrassing.”  The Rattlers are now 0-2 on the season. Meanwhile, Jackson State gains a pivotal win and will move up to 1-0.

However, the outcome of the game did not stop the fun for fans!  The Orange Blossom Classic Battle of the Bands took place on Saturday where fans were able to witness a booming performance from Jackson State Sonic Boom and the mighty FAMU Marching 100s.

Additionally, the event showcased talents from local high school bands from the tri-county area.

We can’t breeze over the fact that the Fan Fest was the best one yet! There were a number of delicious food trucks to stuff your face, OBC Sponsors, and amazing performances on the OBC Fan Fest Soundstage.
