TRAVIS SCOTT’S ASTROWORLD ENDED WITH 8 DEAD AND MANY INJURED

What started as a fun evening at Astroworld Festival in Houston, Texas, turned into a tragedy. Unfortunately, the whole incident ended in 8 casualties and many injured and hospitalized.

Moments after the rapper took the stage, he hyped the crowd encouraging them to ‘rage.’ Many people pushed their way to the stage closer and closer until there was no room left. The crowd got so tight, making it hard for many people to breathe. Not only did it get crowded, but as fans aggressively pushed their way to the front, some were trampled and stomped on.

Izel, who was in attendance, said she never imagined climbing over bodies trying to get out of a concert. However, luck was on her side, and she survived the chaos. But some festival-goers weren’t as lucky, and last Friday night turned out to be the last night of their lives.

Izel said, “people can’t breathe, I can’t breathe! Help stop the concert”. But her pleas went unnoticed. All around her, people were dropping down, eyes rolling inside their heads, and dying of cardiac arrest.

More than 50,000 people were allowed in by the authorities, many even without a ticket.

Travis Scott performed for more than 30 minutes after authorities declared a mass-casualty event. The superstar has a well-documented history of encouraging such rowdy behavior at his events. Once tickets for this year’s festival sold out in May, Scott wrote in an Instagram post that he was “putting a plan together” to “get some more of the wild ones in” to the event, “even if I gotta sneak them in.”

There is an ongoing investigation. Authorities are questioning how well the festival’s security plan was followed and why it took nearly 40 minutes to shut the show down after Houston officials declared a “mass casualty event.” The Houston police are conducting a criminal investigation, and dozens of civil lawsuits were filed against Mr. Scott and Live Nation, the festival’s promoter, among other defendants.

Following the event, Scott tweeted that he was utterly devastated by the commotion. He had no idea what was going on. However, he has been criticized bluntly for not ending the concert when things got out of hand.
