MIAMI ART WEEK RETURNS: GREATER MIAMI AND MIAMI BEACH ANNOUNCE ART OF BLACK MIAMI 2021 SEASON OF EVENTS

MIAMI, FL (November 22, 2021) — The Greater Miami Convention & Visitors Bureau (GMCVB) is on a mission to elevate and bring awareness to Miami’s rich history and diverse heritage while continuing to grow leisure and convention business to the destination. Today, the GMCVB announced the 2021 line-up of events for the Art of Black Miami season, set to take place during Miami Arts Week (Nov. 26- Dec. 6, 2021). Art of Black Miami exhibitions celebrate and highlight artists from across the United States, the Caribbean, and Latin America at exhibitions and special events located in the heart of Miami’s heritage neighborhoods and communities. Developed by the GMCVB’s Multicultural Tourism & Development Department (MTDD), Art of Black Miami 2021 will include a hybrid of in-person and virtual exhibitions to showcase African and African Diaspora artists in the magic city. A sampling Art of Black Miami 2021 events is provided below.

“The entire arts and culture community has their eye on Greater Miami and Miami Beach during the Art Basel and Miami Arts Week season, so we have a unique opportunity to showcase the diversity of our artists, organizations, and galleries celebrating the black diaspora,” said Connie Kinnard, GMCVB’s Vice President, Multicultural Tourism & Development Department. “This year, we want to bring even more awareness to Miami’s heritage communities such as Historic Overtown, Opa-locka, Little Haiti, Little Havana, North Miami, Liberty City, and Miami Beach, to name a few. Our goal is to solidify Art of Black Miami as a platform for emerging, midcareer, and master artists to exhibit and showcase their work.”

Art of Black Miami is a marketing platform and destination driver that showcases the diversity of the visual arts celebrating the black diaspora throughout Greater Miami, Miami Beach, and the rest of the world. The series of Art of Black Miami events taking place during Art Basel/Miami Art Week is just one of the many year-round programs that highlight the artistic cultural landscape found in Greater Miami and Miami Beach’s diverse communities. This initiative celebrates all genres of the visual arts including painting, sculpture, ceramics, photography, animation, film, printmaking, and limited-edition pieces.
