GREATER MIAMI (FL) CHAPTER OF THE LINKS, INCORPORATED TO HOST A VIRTUAL BOOK & AUTHOR BRUNCH, CELEBRATING 66 YEARS OF FRIENDSHIP & SERVICE AND LINKAGES & LEGACIES, VOLUME III
(MIAMI, Fl. — October 18, 2021) — Greater Miami (FL) Chapter of The Links, Incorporated will host a Virtual Book & Author Brunch, Celebrating 66 Years of Friendship & Service and Linkages & Legacies, Volume III. The event will take place Sunday, November 14, 2021 – at 11 a.m. Attendance is complimentary and registration is available at https://greatermiamilinksinc.org.
This is Greater Miami’s 15th Biennial Book & Author Brunch, which has celebrated accomplished and talented authors, including Ambassador Andrew Young, Judy Smith, Terry McMillan, Natalie Baszile, E. Lynn Harris, Bebe Moore Campbell, Edwidge Danticat, and others.
Proceeds from donations and sponsorship for the Virtual Book & Author Brunch will be utilized by the Chapter to fund programming initiatives, including:
- Health programming focused on Breast Cancer Awareness, Diabetes, Alzheimer’s, Healthy Heart initiatives, Obesity prevention and Humanitarian Medical Missions.
- Youth and Arts programming focused on STEM, Collaboration of Youth & Police via Art as well as Annual Educational Scholarships.
“We are elated to host our upcoming Virtual Book & Author Brunch honoring 66 Miami Black pioneers and profiling 20 Black churches over 100 years old from the book, Linkages & Legacies, Volume III,” said Gail Ash Dotson, President of Greater Miami (FL) Chapter of The Links, Incorporated. “The Virtual Book & Author Brunch will further our organization’s mission of investing in and showcasing authentic Black stories and culture in our community. We would like to thank the support of AARP for making this event possible.”
Special musical guests for the brunch include Gospel recording artists Bryan Courtney Wilson and Grammy Award R&B artists Anthony Hamilton. The Links, Incorporated is an international, not-for-profit corporation, established in 1946. The membership consists of more than 16,000 professional women of color in 292 chapters located in 41 states, the District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of the Bahamas and the United Kingdom. It is one of the nation’s oldest and largest volunteer service organizations of women who are committed to enriching, sustaining, and ensuring the culture and economic survival of African Americans and other persons of African ancestry.
Greater Miami (FL) Chapter of The Links, Incorporated was organized in 1955 and has made significant contributions to the South Florida community and beyond through its transformational programming. This programming is documented in approximately 5000+ hours of service annually in the following five (5) facets: Services to Youth, The Arts, National Trends and Services, International Trends and Services, and Health and Human Services.
