OBAMA RELEASES HIS ANNUAL SUMMER READING CATALOG AND PLAYLIST

Former President Barack Obama released his traditional 2021 summer music playlist and reading list last Saturday to keep us light-spirited for the busy season.

“With so many folks getting together with family and friends, there’s a lot to celebrate this summer. Here’s a playlist of songs I’ve been listening to lately — it’s a mix of old and new, household names and emerging artists, and a whole lot in between,” Obama wrote on Twitter.

The 38-song playlist begins with Jazmine Sullivan’s “Pick Up Your Feelings.” It goes on to include songs such as Silk Sonic’s “Leave the Door Open,” Drake featuring Lil Baby’s “Wants and Needs,” Brandi Carlile’s “Speak Your Mind,” and Migos’ “Straightenin.” Obama made sure he included some oldies in there as well including, “If You Really Love Me” by Stevie Wonder, “Tumbling Dice” by The Rolling Stones, and “I’ll Be Your Baby Tonight” by Bob Dylan. He’s got a lil something for everybody.

Along with Obama’s summer playlist, he released some classic must-reads. From To Klara and the Sun, Kazuo Ishiguro’s novel, and Rumaan Alam’s bestseller Leave the World Behind, to Empire of Pain: The Secret History of the Sackler Dynasty. The former Pres has it all on his list.

Obama has been sharing his summer favorites since he’s been in the white house. After his supporters showed so much love, it became a tradition that everyone looks forward to every year. So whether you’re beach-bound this summer or keeping your distance on the couch, our former president has something for you.
