KANYE WEST PUSHES BACK RELEASE DATE FOR HIGHLY ANTICIPATED ALBUM ‘DONDA’

Kanye West is delaying the release of his new album, ‘DONDA’, to August 6. West premiered the official unveiling of his long-awaited 10th album to a sold-out crowd in his hometown of Atlanta on Thursday night, ahead of the album’s initial release date. The event reportedly broke streaming records after Apple Music hosted the event on their platform.

West initially teased his album in a TV spot that premiered during Game 6 of the NBA finals, previewing a new song titled “No Child Left Behind.” The visual was a collaboration between West, track star Sha’Carri Richardson and Beats.

“Donda” follows West’s last release, 2019’s “Jesus is King,” which won a Grammy for the best contemporary Christian music album. His new project features star rapper Lil Baby, the goat Jay-Z, Travis Scott, and many more! The Grammy winner’s album was named after his mother, Donda West. She died at the age of 58 following plastic surgery complications in 2007. After hosting an estimated 42,000 fans at Atlanta’s Mercedes-Benz Stadium, the rapper hasn’t left the stadium and will not until the project is completed.

Justin Laboy took to Twitter to make the announcement, stating that Ye wants to deliver the project “without rushing anything.” He wrote, “KANYE WEST WILL MOVE THE RELEASE DATE OF DONDA TO AUGUST 6TH. THANKS FOR YOUR PATIENCE[.] HE WANTS TO GIVE HIS FANS THE BEST POSSIBLE PRODUCT WITHOUT RUSHING ANYTHING. HE LOVES YALL WITH ALL OF HIS HEART. GOD BLESS”
