KIRK FRANKLIN’S ELDEST SON LEAKS PRIVATE PHONE CONVERSATION
Kirk Franklin’s son, Kerrion leaked a phone call with his father on Instagram where Kirk franklin was heard losing his cool saying, “I will break your neck….. Don’t you ever disrespect me.” Kerrion recorded his father without permission and defended his actions saying, “He got the recordings I didn’t record him without him knowing he knows I’m always recording and still provokingly talks to me wild very often too often.” Kerrion didn’t post what led up to the gospel singer saying what he said but can be heard in the video provoking his father’s anger.
The award-winning gospel singer posted an apology video on Instagram later that day. “Recently, my son and I had an argument that he chose to record. I felt extremely disrespected in that conversation and I lost my temper, and I said words that are not appropriate,” the singer said. “I am sincerely sorry to all of you, I sincerely apologize.” He continued, “I’m not perfect,” Franklin concluded in his apology video. “I’m human, and I’m going to make mistakes, and I’m trying to get it right. Please keep me and my family in your prayers.”
A few days later, Kerrion’s mother, Shawn Ewing, told “Heart Beat” podcast host Ericka Fusilier English that she and Kirk Franklin had their son Kerrion Franklin when they were teenagers, which has caused a lot of trauma in her son’s life. Ewing vouched for both Franklin and her son. “I’m not saying that my son is not hurting from us being teenage parents. I’m not saying my son doesn’t have a testimony. What I am saying is that ‘you were not abandoned. No one abdicated their responsibility towards you. You are loved, Kerrion Franklin,'” she said. “I will look at the camera and say it. You are loved. We support you then. We support you now. We support you tomorrow, but there’s a way to deal with it.”
Since then, Steve Harvey and others who know the award-winning vocalist spoke up on his behalf. But on the other hand, the situation kept boiling when molestation allegations spewed over onto the internet.
Kirk Franklin decided to sit down and do a TV interview with Tamron Hall to clear the air. “I’m confident that his mother, myself, Tammy, my family, there’s never been anything physical that concerns me or even makes me uncomfortable because I know the truth, he knows the truth, and I love him,” Franklin told Hall. “And as a grown man, I am still his dad and when it becomes aggressive, I still have to have a level of respect.”
