The 63rd Annual Grammy Awards ceremony was held in Los Angeles on Sunday, March 14, 2021. Comedian and Daily Show host, Trevor Noah hosted the ceremony from the Los Angeles Convention Center, just across the street from the award show’s usual home at the Staples Center. Noah brings life to the reality of the long running effects of the pandemic saying, “I’ll be your host tonight as we celebrate the last 10 years of music that got us through the last 10 years of coronavirus,” he said. “I know it’s been one year, but it feels like 10.”

Megan Thee Stallion became the first female artist to win the best rap song award for her breakout hit Savage (Remix), on which Beyoncé delivers a guest verse.

Four women won the top four prizes Sunday, Taylor Swift becomes the first female performer to win album of the year three times. H.E.R. won song of the year and Billie Eilish picked up her second consecutive record of the year honor, telling the audience that best new artist winner Megan Thee Stallion deserved the award.

Ice-T wins Best Metal Performance with the heavy metal group he co-founded in 1990, for their track “Bum-Rush” from their latest full-length album ”Carnivore.” “WTF just happened????! Wow… Speechless. Respect to Riley Gale RIP and @PowerTripTX,” Ice-T posted on his social media channels with a video of his real-time reaction to the win.

Mickey Guyton becomes first Black female country artist to perform on Grammy Awards, singing her “Black Like Me” song. She was the first Black female solo artist to receive a nod in a country category.
