BLACK TWITTER REACTS TO HARPER’S BAZAAR MEGAN THEE STALLION COVER
Harper’s Bazaar cover featuring Megan Thee Stallion sparks representation controversy and a continued debate over the lack of diversity in the fashion industry especially when it comes to how black people are photographed.
The March issue of the magazine has two covers. One cover features Megan Thee Stallion in a black Bardot top and the other, she wears a black cape from Chanel and earrings from Bulgari.
Megan Thee Stallion has become a style icon, joining a Savage x Fenty campaign and inking a deal with Revlon. She classifies herself as a “hot girl,” inviting women of all skin colors and body types to embrace themselves.
Fans had a lot to say about how the “Savage” rapper looked criticizing the lighting, mood, and general aesthetic.
And THIS is why we should be photographing our people. These photos simply are not good. The angles, the lighting, the editing…feels very lazy. Meg deserved better @harpersbazaarus pic.twitter.com/02GlVg8lDA

Another user added, “They got her lookin like whatever.”

The internet just didn’t let up, and some woke up still mad.
I woke up still mad about Megan Thee Stallion’s cover and photo series of Harper’s Bazar March issue.
Hire Black photographers. End of story.

Last month, Vogue faced backlash of its Kamala Harris February cover after fans took to the internet voicing their disappointment with the cover choice. Vogue was portrayed as “disrespectful,” and the photographs “whitewashed.”
However, the Harper’s Bazaar photographer, Collier Schorr, has said that she and the rapper collaborated on the shoot. “A most remarkable experience making pictures with Megan Thee Stallion who discussed each picture and edited afterward with me,” Collier Schorr wrote on Instagram.
Did all that talking nonsense and comes out Meg herself discussed each photo and did the edit in “total collaboration” with the photographer. pic.twitter.com/vNQ4pIUh8D
