28th ANNUAL DR. MARTIN LUTHER KING, JR. VIRTUAL SCHOLARSHIP BREAKFAST
Miami – The COVID-19 Pandemic will not hold us back! The boys need us more than ever!! This year we present the 5000 Role Models of Excellence Project’s 28th Annual ~ First Virtual ~ Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., Scholarship Breakfast. The virtual scholarship breakfast is scheduled for 9 a.m., Monday, January 18, 2021. This will be the largest and most significant event of its kind in the nation.
“This is the signature fundraising event that normally brings together, in person, South Florida’s richly diverse community,” said 5000 Role Models of Excellence Project founder Congresswoman Frederica S. Wilson. “However, due to the pandemic we will be virtual. Now the entire nation and the world will be introduced to our history makers, scholars, sponsors, and our 5000 Role Models of Excellence Project.”
As we celebrate the birthday of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., and nearly three decades of mentoring, guidance, and scholarships, noted HISTORY MAKERS will be honored:
• Vice President Elect Kamala Harris, the first woman and woman of color elected to the office
• Lonnie G. Bunch III, 14th Secretary of the Smithsonian Institution and founding director of the Smithsonian National Museum of African American History and Culture
• Mayor Daniella Levine Cava, the first female elected Mayor of Miami-Dade County
• Benjamin Crump, Esq., American Communities Attorney General
• John F. Davis, Secretary of the Florida Lottery and inaugural member of the Florida Council on the Social Status of Black Men and Boys
Our founder, Congresswoman Frederica Wilson (D-FL-24), will introduce her 45 Wilson Scholars in the class of 2021 to be awarded scholarships. Some of our presenting sponsors include Sean John; Verizon; Miami Dolphins Foundation; FedEx and the Florida Lottery.
