MIAMI-DADE COUNTY ELECTS FIRST WOMAN MAYOR -DANIELLA LEVINE CAVA

Miami Dade County has made history with the general election by electing Commissioner Daniella Levine Cava for Mayor. It was a lopsided win for Cava over opponent Commissioner Estebon Bovo. The Miami-Dade County Mayoral race is non-partisan however the party line was clear throughout the campaign which at times got ugly. Cava benefited from the huge Democrat turnout.

She released a statement of victory.

“Today, my heart is filled with gratitude. Thanks to you, we built the largest grassroots movement in Our County’s history. Your donations, your hours spent volunteering, and your endless messages of encouragement helped us finally shatter Miami-Dade’s highest glass ceiling. To all the women and girls who were told that their dreams are too big, I hope that last night’s results make clear that you can do anything you set your mind to. And to everyone in our community who has been waiting far too long for County Hall to listen, I hope you can rest easy today knowing that you will finally have a voice in the Mayor’s office.”

The race for district 8 is yet to be determined as the Miami-Dade Board of Commissioners has the right to appoint someone until the seat is rightfully up for election in 2021.
