MDCPS REOPENING UPDATE

MDCPS REOPENING UPDATE

After a less than stellar start to the school year online being filled with lack of information for parents, Zoom crashes, hacks and the breakup with the K12 platform, MDCPS prepares for physical reopening of schools.

Superintendent Alberto Carvalho tweeted on September 11th, “Our County’s move to Phase 2, announced by Governor Ron DeSantis, lifts a roadblock that prevented us from taking steps to reopen schools. With guidance from medical experts & the School Board, we’re optimistic that we’ll be able to make an announcement prior to Sept. 30, as planned.”

Teachers have been relying on Zoom and Microsoft Teams to execute virtual classes, Carvalho commended their creativity in making it fun and interactive for their students. Many parents have expressed an overwhelming need for their kids to go back to school soon.

The School Board of Miami-Dade County, announced a SPECIAL BOARD MEETING

September 21, 2020 at 11:00 A.M. to solely discuss schools reopening.  Stay tuned for updates following tomorrow’s meeting.
