Coconut Grove: Commissioner Xavier Suarez Strives To Service Constituents With COVID-19 Testing

Miami-Dade County District 7 Commissioner Xavier L. Suarez is on a mission to ensure residents have access to walk-up COVID-19 and antibody testing. “The coronavirus pandemic has been challenging for everyone, getting tested should not be a challenge,” said Miami-Dade County Commissioner Xavier L. Suarez. Recognizing the difficulty that too many in the community face, Commissioner Xavier L. Suarez partnered with Community Health of South FL and Oneblood to make testing easily accessible to residents in Coconut Grove, South Miami and surrounding areas. Friday, May 29 from 10:00am to 2:00pm, residents will be able to obtain COVID-19 and antibody testing at the Frankie Rolle Community Center, 3750 South Dixie Highway. To get antibody testing, individuals must donate whole blood. If donors recently gave whole blood, they can give platelets to receive antibody testing.

Walk-up COVID-19 testing does not require an appointment. For more information, contact CHI at 305-252-4820 or visit us at www.chisouthfl.org. Also partnering with Commissioner Suarez for this initiative is Congresswoman Donna E. Shalala (FL-27). “Testing is one of the most important tools we have to fight this virus and keep our community safe. The more people we can test safely and accurately, the better we can direct resources and reopen the economy in way that will not jeopardize our long-term health or security. I applaud Commissioner Suarez for his efforts to help expand access to testing in our community,” said Congresswoman Shalala.

Appointments are preferred to give blood/platelets and receive antibody testing. To make an appointment, call Oneblood (305) 975-3728 or access the web portal at https://donor.oneblood.org/donor/schedules/drive_schedule/957177.
