2022 NBA ALL-STAR WEEKEND RECAP

There were plenty of smiles at the 2022 NBA All-Star Weekend, as the league celebrated the NBA’s 75th Anniversary season.

All-Star MVP

The Warriors were well represented all weekend, including Andrew Wiggins making his All-Star debut and Steph Curry earning the 2022 NBA All-Star MVP Award.

Curry was named the All-Star MVP, adding another title to his NBA resume. “It’s right on the nose of how it should go,” Curry said.

Dunk Contest

Juan Toscano-Anderson took flight at the 2022 AT&T Slam Dunk Contest on State Farm All-Star Saturday Night, finishing second. Toscano-Anderson celebrated Warriors history by rocking former Dub Jason Richardson’s ‘We Believe’ jersey. After the event, the Warriors forward received a special call from Richardson, “You’re (Toscano-Anderson) so respected and you represent the Bay always,” Richardson said.

Obi Toppin was the top dunker at the 2022 NBA All-Star Dunk Contest. Toppin’s best dunk of the first round was a toss off the backboard followed by a shuffle through his legs and a reverse slam. He was awarded 46 points for the attempt.

“Those dunks have never been done in a dunk contest, and I felt good being out there,” Toppin said. “It means a lot for me to do it in Ohio for sure, it’s like my second home.”

NBA Crossover Event

The NBA Crossover Event was a fan-engaging experience with different partner activations such as player meet & greets, shoot outs, etc. You could also find limited-edition merchandise and collectibles, art and memorabilia display, apparel customization, and more.

The event was action-packed. The weekend kicked off on Friday with appearances from Collin Sexton, Lauri Markkanen, Gary Payton, and more. The fun continued into Saturday with ‘Life as a Rookie with Evan Mobley. Evan Mobley’s impact on defense has changed the game for the Cleveland Cavaliers. He spoke about how he’s been able to have such a significant impact as a rookie. On Sunday, the weekend wrapped up with an AT&T Pre-Game Concert featuring Jack Harlow and Cautious Clay.

Overall, it was a great event that showcased the intersection of basketball and culture through art, fashion, music, technology, and entertainment.
