KYLE RITTENHOUSE FOUND NOT GUILTY

Kyle Rittenhouse shot three people with an illegal gun trying to patrol the streets of the Jacob Blake protest. Today, Nov. 19, the judge showed off his white privilege and found him guilty on all counts. The defense in the trial argued that Rittenhouse was acting in self-defense. The judge completely dismissed a teen named Kyle Rittenhouse for possession of a dangerous weapon at age 17.

On Monday, before the closing argument was made, the judge ruled out and dismissed Kyle Rittenhouse’s case, who had been carrying a gun. The teen also used that weapon on people during the protest and killed two, whereas one man was injured.

The law is unclear and states that any 17 year old would be allowed to openly carry arms, as long as they aren’t short-barrel rifles. The weapon carried by Rittenhouse was less than 16 inches, and its overall strength was 26 inches. It was a Smith & Wesson standard-sized M & P 15. The verdict allowed a 17-year-old to carry semi-automatic rifles.

Assistant District Attorney argued his case that 17-year-olds should not own dangerous weapons. This law also states in the Class A misdemeanor that minors (under 18) would be guilty if they possess loaded or unloaded firearms.

The defense team succeeded in finding a loophole in the law, which they used in favor of Rittenhouse. They pointed out that the law applies to minors carrying only short barrel rifles. The law states that carrying short barrel rifles is a felony, punishable by law, whether or not carried by a minor or an adult. However, it does not hold good to police officers and active military officials.

Legal experts confessed to the poor wording of the law, which caused the defense to find a loophole to save a teen who murdered two and injured one. The law was perhaps worded in a way to allow teens to hunt, as long as their weapons were not sawed-off or short-barrelled shotguns.

“I believe they came to the correct verdict, and I’m glad everything went well,” the teenager said. “It’s been a rough journey, but we made it through it. We made it through the hard part.”

Rittenhouse is from North Suburban Antioch. He had volunteered to patrol downtown in August 2020 in Kenosha during the Jacob Blake protest. He was carrying an illegally purchased gun, which a friend of his had bought for him. He shot Anthony Huber, Joseph Rosenbaum, and Gaige Grosskreutz. The former two lost their lives while the latter was brutally injured. The judge dismissed all charges against Rittenhouse, declaring that he had shot in self-defense.

The public took an interest in the case, which was evident by the crowd of people who made it to the courtroom on Monday morning outside courtroom 209 to witness the case proceedings.
