INSIDE LOOK AT COLIN KAEPERNICK’S NEW NETFLIX SERIES
Netflix described Colin Kaepernick’s new series “Colin in Black & White” as a drama series that recounts the NFL star’s formative years navigating race, class, and culture as the Black adopted child of a white family in Central California while aspiring for greatness.
“Life puts us on a path, sometimes winding. But always ours,” the football star says in the video above.
Throughout the past few years, Kaepernick has become the face of the Black Lives Matter Movement. In 2016, he protested by kneeling during the national anthem. Sadly, the NFL deemed this act polarizing with NFL officials and Fans. Trump was president at the time and voices that team owners should fire players who protested during the national anthem. The following year, he became a free agent and filed a lawsuit against the NFL. Now he’s supported by the biggest brands, including NIKE, for who he has an endorsement deal with.
The now activist shared news about the series on Instagram where any fans gave their flowers to the former football player. One person commented, “No longer a $40 million slave, he’s saving lives and raising awareness. I’m clever!” Another comment said, “I hate he’s not in the NFL’s Nomo, but he’s more. I’m glad you did something good.”
Colin flexed his skills and served as an executive producer of the six-episode scripted drama alongside Ava Duverna, executive producer of Netflix’s Peabody-winning limited series When They See Us. The highly-anticipated series will premiere on October 29th.
