TWITTER REACTS TO JUVENILE AND MANNIE FRESH REMIX “VAX THAT THANG UP”
BLK, the dating app for Black singles, paired up with Juvenile, Mannie Fresh, and Mia X in remixing rapper Juvenile’s classic 1999 song “Back That Thang Up” as part of the U.S. government’s effort to vaccinate urban youth.
“Vax that thang up” focuses on dating by pushing the message “dating is better in all the ways once you’re vaccinated.” Black Twitter declared this remix is the one they didn’t know they needed.
I didn’t know much I needed this until I saw it #VaxThatThangUp

The music video features Juvenile with his former Ca$H Money Records label boss Mannie Fresh. The two rappers dance in a park surrounded by women while urging youngins to “vax that thang up.”
Girl you looks good/won’t you vax that thang up
You’s a handsome young brother/won’t you vax that thang up
Date in real life/you need to vax that thang up
Feeling freaky all night/you need to vax that thang up
“I just wanted to do something positive for my people and to stand in the front to show that I’m willing to sacrifice my life not just for me but also for my family,” Juvenile says, speaking about the project “We don’t know what we’re facing right now, but we really do all need to be vaccinated so we can continue to do our thing and survive.”
Jonathan Kirkland, BLK Head of Brand & Marketing, kept things very creative with this one. “We have a direct line to the audience that needs to internalize this message. The song may be playful and fun, but the underlying message is as real as it gets,” he said in a statement.
Along with the song, BLK will be adding a “Vaxified” badge on its app. This feature will allow users to promote their vaccinated status to prospective matches. So far, over 100,000 BLK users have added the badge to their profiles.
