HARD ROCK STADIUM BECOMES APPOINTMENT-FREE VACCINE SITE

This week, Hard Rock Stadium started its’ appointment-free vaccinations. FEMA Master Public Information Officer Mike Jachles announced that the stadium will be expanding its hours of operation from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m., seven days a week. The new hours were put in place to better support the community’s need for vaccination.

Jachles stated, “This is the first site in South Florida with the expanded hours, so we’re here to serve anybody that wants the Pfizer vaccine.” He continued, “This is going to be a big opportunity for people that may be through work schedules or family schedules that haven’t been able to get the vaccine to now take advantage of that and get inoculated.”

Here are some important things know before hand:

  • Anyone seek vaccination services must be 16 and over to be inoculated.
  • Teens must be accompanied by a legal guardian and have a birth certificate or legal identification.
  • Parents accompanying minors must have proof of legal guardship over teen.
  • To cut down wait times, eligible Florida residents should use the vaccination portal to preregister for the vaccine.

However, cases continue to increase in Miami-Dade County. In a recent report, they developed 1,600 new cases of the virus. The positivity rate is at 9%, two points higher than the previous one-week average of 7%. According to Jachles, the plan is to administer 3,000 first dose Pfizer vaccines and 2,000 second dose Pfizer vaccines every day. So far, 20% of Floridians are fully vaccinated. Hopefully Jachles plan follows through and South Florida starts to see a decrease in cases.
