DMX SUFFERS HEART ATTACK

Grammy-nominated rapper DMX was admitted into the hospital after suffering a heart attack due to a drug overdose on Friday around 11 pm. Following the heart attack, the musician was not breathing on his own and put on life support.

However, DMX’s attorney, Murray Richman, announced Saturday evening that DMX was taken off of life support and breathing on his own. Richman later clarified that he misspoke, and DMX still remains on life support in a “vegetative state” with little to no brain activity. TMZ reported that his brain is severely damaged due to a lack of oxygen.

The rapper spoke emotionally in the past about his struggles with drug addiction, for which he received rehabilitation service multiple times.

“He passed the blunt around and … I hit the blunt. I never felt like this before, it f—– me up. I later found out that he laced the blunt with crack,” he said in an interview with Talib Kweli. “Why would you do that to a child? He was like 30, and he knew I looked up to him. Why would you do that to someone who looks up to you?”

After many hit mixtapes, DMX landing a deal with leading hip-hop label Def Jam in 1998. During his time at Def Jam, he put out an unprecedented five albums debuting at No 1 on the Billboard 200 Charts. His multiple hip-hop anthems lead him to take over Hollywood with starring roles in action films such as Romeo Must Die, Cradle 2 the Grave with Chinese martial superstar Jet Li, and more!

In such a dark time, dozens of fans and loved ones gathered together outside White Plains Hospital, including members of the “Ruff Ryders” motorcycle crew, for a prayer vigil. His wife took to Instagram writing, “The love is real…. This just touched my heart.” It still with great hope and prayer that a miracle happens and DMX pulls through.
