AMAZON HEADS TO THE BOTTOM | SOUTH MIAMI DADE
Amazon shares have hit an all-time high. Amazon Prime is loathed by every other B2C business on the planet. Now Amazon is headed to South Miami-Dade to open a new warehouse providing over 300 much needed jobs. What else could they do right?
Miami-Dade County Commissioner Dennis C. Moss announced today that he is sponsoring an agreement that will sell land to Amazon in order for them to build a million square foot warehouse and employee 325 people. The new facility is slated to be built near Homestead Air Reserve Base in the Naranja area.
Amazon will pay the county $22 million dollars of which 22% or approximately $5.5 million dollars will go to the Miami-Dade Affordable Housing Trust Fund; and 75% will go to fund the Homestead Air Reserve Base Trust Fund to support other economic development in the area.
